For the first time ever, Ukraine had its own national booth at Collision Conference, the largest technology event in North America, and ISSP was one of its partners, as we did previously at Web Summit.
ISSP held a number of meetings with potential investors who are eager to support the Ukrainian startup ecosystem. The Canadian and Dutch delegations were particularly interested in the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects. We estimate this connection as the beginning of long-term fruitful cooperation.

Oleh Derevianko, ISSP Co-Founder and Chief Vision Officer, took part in a panel discussion on the Prospects and Uniqueness of the Ukrainian IT System.
‘The Ukrainian IT sector demonstrates impressive resilience. Even despite the martial law, mobilization and forced relocation of IT teams, business is growing. According to the results of the first quarter of 2022, IT sector provided a record $2 billion in export revenues.
Moreover, for many Ukrainians the fact that critical infrastructure such as banks, telecom, energy, and transport infrastructure was working confidently during the war play a significant role. Even despite the huge number of cyber attacks. Ukraine fights back primarily thanks to qualified professionals who are able to counter the most serious cyber threats.
And the level of challenges is constantly increasing. According to Microsoft, in 2020-2021, almost 20% of all targeted cyber attacks were directed against Ukraine, more than 45% - against the USA, and almost 10% - against Great Britain. Such countries as Israel faced only 2% of global attacks.
But cybersecurity is not just a function, it is also an industry with great export potential, which requires two things to happen. Firstly, the development of the domestic Ukrainian market. And secondly, the promotion of Ukraine’s image as an advanced country in the field of cyber security. We have world-class cyber security companies and must do everything in our power to make the world more aware of it,’ Oleh Derevianko explained.
